Thiruvananthapuram, May 17 : Taking full credit for leading the ruling CPI-M led LDF to a second term, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan ahead of the first meeting of the Left Democratic Front after the election results, celebrated the occasion by cutting a big cake here on Monday.
Left Democratic Front convenor A. Vijayaraghavan told the media that a 21-member cabinet will be sworn in on Thursday and including Vijayan there will be 12 cabinet ministers from the CPI-M.
Even after two weeks of Pinarayi Vijayan winning the April 6 assembly polls when he created history by becoming the first to retain office, the only thing that s clear is, he will take oath of office on Thursday.One more thing which is certain .

Unlike in many other parts of India, movie stars usually don’t become a major part of Kerala politics. Still, there have been a few actors who contested in the recently held Kerala Legislative Assembly elections.
Among those who contested, actors Mukesh and K B Ganesh Kumar got elected from Kollam and Pathanapuram respectively. Both the actors represent the Left Democratic Front that retained power in Kerala.
Actor Dharmajan Bolghatty, who contested on a Congress ticket from Balussery, lost the battle.
Veteran Kerala politician R Balakrishna Pillai passes away

Kerala s stalwart politician, breathed his last at a hospital at
Kottarakara on Monday, said family sources.
Pillai was ailing due to old age problems. He was a few days back admitted to the hospital following breathing problems.
However, he passed away after coming to know that his film star son K.B. Ganesh Kumar won his fifth straight assembly elections from Pathanapuram in the
Kollam district.
Pillai s glorious political career began in 1960 when he won his first assembly election from Pathanapuram as a Congress candidate and then he had no reason to look back till 2006 when he lost from his home base at Kottarakara and after that, he has stayed away from electoral politics.
