Telangana: 7 UK returnees hospitalized after testing COVID positive

Hyderabad: Seven people who returned here recently from the UK tested positive for COVID-19 and their swab samples have been sent for screening to ascertain if they carry the new variant of the coronavirus detected there, a senior Telangana Health official said on Thursday.
The seven have been admitted to hospitals and are being monitored continuously, Public Health Director G Srinivas Rao said.
We have found seven persons who returned from the UK during the past two weeks to be positive for the coronavirus.

As per the Centres SoP (standard operating procedure) all international passengers arrived here from November 25 to December 23 will be under surveillance.
Assuring that COVID-19 cases are under control in Telangana, he said as many as 10,000 vaccine administrators have been identified and training programmes at various levels are currently undergoing.
A total of 358 passengers had arrived in Telangana in the past one week from U.K, where a new strain of COVID-19 has been detected and efforts were on trace them, a senior health department official said here on Tuesday. Telangana Public Health Director G Srinivas Rao said these passengers need to undergo institutional quarantine even if they test negative, while positive caseswould be treated in hospitals, based on their symptoms.

HYDERABAD: Telangana’s health surveillance machinery has gone into a high alert mode again after news of a more infectious strain of SARS COV-2 spreading across the United Kingdom.
Those testing positive will be isolated and others not testing positive will be sent for mandatory institutional quarantine. As per senior officials from the health department, there are around two direct flights and eight connecting flights between the two regions and roughly 200-500 passengers reach Telangana every single day. Hyderabad International Airport authorities have further confirmed that it has been about two months since these flights began.

NEW DELHI: In a relief for the Telangana Government over the Coronavirus testing in the State, the Supreme Court stayed the Contempt of Court Notice to Public Health Director Dr G Srinivas Rao issued by the Telangana High Court on Wednesday.
A bench consisting of Justices Ashok Bhushan, R Subhash Reddy and MR Shala on Wednesday heard a petition filed by the Telangana government challenging the High Court order. Senior advocate NK Kaul who was representing on behalf of the Telangana government, said that the State was conducting all the tests required for the combating the Coronovirus. He also explained that it was difficult to conduct 50,000 tests a day.
