Barely 48 hours after bandits killed 19 people in Birnin Gwari and Kajuru Local Government areas of Kaduna State, no fewer than 23 people have been killed and many others injured during separate attacks on five councils.
The affected local government areas are Chikun, Igabi, Giwa, Birnin Gwari all in Kaduna Central Zone and Kauru in the southern part of the state.
Giving an update on the incident, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, explained in a statement that the attacks occurred in the last 24 hours.
According to him, 10 people were killed and three others were injured at Ungwan Gajere community of Kutemeshi ward of Birnin Gwari Local Government, while one person was shot dead between Sarkin Baka and Dankyawai village in Igabi Local Government Area.

Two locals were ambushed by unknown gunmen and killed between Bakin Kogi and Narido village in Kauru Local Government area of Kaduna state.
Troops under the auspices of Operation Safe Haven, informed the Kaduna State Government of the attack on Tuesday.
Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State, said the troops responded to a distress call and arrived the location to find two persons – Musa Garba and Yakubu Yawo – shot dead. Two others – Monday Joseph and Jacob Thomas – sustained gunshot injuries.
According to reports, the victims were ambushed by unknown gunmen between Bakin Kogi and Narido village, as they made their way from Bakin Kogi Market.

FOUR persons, including an unidentified herdsman, were killed in another bout of reprisal on four villages in Zango-Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Saturday.
The four villages attacked by gunmen are Ungwan Gaiya, Ungwan Gimba, Ungwan Makama and Apimbu
The state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, said in a statement on Sunday.
The government statement is titled, ‘Four killed in further reprisal, as more troops are deployed in flashpoints…El-Rufai reiterates stand on recourse to the law’.
Between Thursday night and Saturday night, no fewer than 14 persons were killed by gunmen in three local government areas of the state; Zango-Kataf, Kauru and Lere. Scores of villagers were injured and receiving medical attention in hospitals while several houses were razed.
