JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) in the Gauteng provincial legislature has, with the help of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), defeated a motion of no confidence brought against Premier David Makhura.
The governing party managed to secure 37 of the required votes, one of which was cast by the IFP’s Bonginkosi Dhlamini.
Gauteng residents often complain about poor ambulance response times, but 350 out of 1244 public ambulances are currently out of action because of maintenance and repairs. This is revealed by Gauteng Health MEC Nomathemba Mokgethi in a written reply to my questions in the Gauteng Legislature.

JOHANNESBURG – The Gauteng government said that it would look at the cannabis industry as one of the many ways to revitalise the province s economy.
The provincial government’s focusing on high growth priority sectors and infrastructure investment projects, in line with the national government s economic reconstruction and recovery plan that was announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Gauteng Premier David Makhura made the announcement during his State of the Province Address where he also laid out his four priorities for the new financial year which include plans to boost the economy.

JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Premier David Makhura warned that a third COVID-19 wave was still a possibility and the vaccine rollout programme had to be done with urgency, especially with winter coming soon.
The province has more than 401,000 COVID-19 cases and 9,481 people died of the virus.
