Police arrest man after racial incident WA Police with the assistance of members of the public apprehended a man in relation to an assault that occurred in Gosnells around 6.20pm on Saturday 20 February 2021.
It will be alleged the man approached a 40-year-old woman and her teenage daughter who were walking along Corfield Street, between Verna Street and the Corfield Shopping Centre.
It will be further alleged the man yelled racial obscenities at the woman before spraying a can of deodorant in her direction. He then lit the spray, turning the can into a makeshift flamethrower, and attempted to burn the woman with the flame.

Police have released images of man who allegedly tried to set an indigenous mum and her daughter alight with a makeshift flamethrower as detectives ramp up their search for the attacker.
The 40-year-old woman and her teenage daughter were approached by the man, who had a white swastika painted on his forehead, in the southeast Perth suburb of Gosnells on Saturday night as they walked home, according to police.
He allegedly yelled racial obscenities at the woman before attempting to burn her with a makeshift flamethrower made using a can of deodorant and a lighter, inflicting minor arm injuries.
Police have now released CCTV footage of the alleged offender walking across the Gosnells IGA car park around the time of the assault.
