Panaji, Jan 20 : There is a thinking within the NCP to align with like-minded parties to form an alliance to provide a viable alternative to the BJP and provide a stable government in Goa, party supremo Sharad Pawar said on Wednesday.
Pawar also said that the Nationalist Congress Party Vice President Praful Patel had been authorised to conduct parleys with political parties in Goa which includes the the Congress and Goa Forward to cobble together a possible alliance.

Panaji, Dec 30 : Ministers in Goa appear to be a divided lot on regulated cannabis cultivation in the coastal state for medicinal purposes, a day after Law Minister Nilesh Cabral made a strong pitch for such endeavour.
Speaking to reporters in Panaji on Wednesday, Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude said that that while the move could help generate employment, it could also lead to adverse social impact. Earlier in the day, he said he did not even know what cannabis was.

Panaji, Dec 30 : Amid dissenting voices in the cabinet and criticism from Opposition parties, the BJP-led coalition government in Goa appears to have backed out of going ahead with a proposal to permit legal farming of cannabis for medicinal purposes.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant that the government was not interested in going ahead with the proposal. At present the Goa government is not interested in going ahead with this proposal, Sawant told reporters.
