We have very nice walking and biking trails, a very nice skateboarding and picnic park along the river, good playing fields, a very good school system with excellent teachers and administrators, Colburn Park is getting a nice improvement and the city administrators are doing a good job in their various occupations. Now, after all these sincere encomia, I have a small favor to ask. The road crew does a great job, but could we please have the streets repaired? We have potholes that could swallow a Volkswagen Beetle. There must be a little extra cash somewhere in City Hall to buy some hot patch to fill the holes. Look in all the drawers. Forum, Dec. 31: Jan. 1 parade to celebrate ‘welcoming’ ordinances Published: 12/30/2020 10:00:37 PM Modified: 12/30/2020 10:00:28 PM Jan. 1 parade to celebrate ‘welcoming’ ordinances On New Year’s Day, Lebanon’s “welcoming ordinance” goes into effect, joining similar policies in Hanover, Norwich and Hartford. All four municipalities will then have a policy that instructs local police not to collaborate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, in addition to prohibiting them from racial profiling. The organizers and activists who worked to pass these policies are planning a celebration in the form of a vehicle parade to connect our municipalities in this time of physical distancing and to recognize that we are all one community.

The Newark Pilots open their sixth season of play in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball league on June 3rd as the Geneva Red Wings come to town. Geneva will be playing its inaugural season in the PGCBL.Gates open at 6:05 pm with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm at Colburn Park in Newark. A fireworks celebration will take place postgame. Renovations to the park include new bleacher seating and new picnic tables to accommodate for a growing fan base. The Pilots have received growing support from Newark and the surrounding communities. “We are excited to have the Pilots back for another summer,” said Newark Mayor Jonathan Taylor. “We have a beautiful ballpark, with a professional level field. We hope that the new bleachers add to the fan experience!”
