The biggest fair in the state is starting up again soon, and full festivities are back this year.
After being more limited last year, the 82nd annual Sioux Empire Fair will take place in Sioux Falls with carnival rides, food vendors, games, music, livestock shows and more from August 5-14 at the fairgrounds.
A concert with Old Dominion and Carly Pearce kicks it all off on opening night, which opens gates at 5 p.m. The fair s carnival, food truck vendors and other events open Saturday at 10 a.m. with full commercial and food vendors again.
More people are expected to attend this year after Future Farmers of America, 4-H, bingo and a few other events went on hiatus in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Like their custom cuisine, state fair musical lineups often resemble a mishmash of favorites, summer rarities and overstuffed options that leave a strange feeling in the pit of your stomach.
Concerts at the Missouri State Fair, held annually in Sedalia, often fit right in the middle of their cross-country counterparts. Some states greatly outpace Missouri check out this year s lineup in Minnesota, featuring the likes of Miranda Lambert and Tim McGraw or New York s schedule with Nas, Third Eye Blind and Melissa Etheridge while others falter by comparison.

ANGOLA â From music to theater, rodeo and truck pulls, thereâs plenty of entertainment in the coming days as the Steuben County 4-H Fair kicks off, in person, for 2021.
Throughout the next several days, people can catch local favorite bands such as The Hubie Ashcraft Band, watch a professional rodeo that includes a number of local riders, enjoy truck and tractor pulls and more, showing that the 4-H fair isnât just livestock exhibits.
Gate entrance to the fairgrounds, which is required for any of the entertainment events, is $5 per vehicle. Some events require additional tickets while others are free to attend.
