Seattle Postgame - No Victory Monday By Sinan Yurday on Dec 21, 2020, 6:47am EST +
This was really painful. Washington fell 15-20 to the Seattle Seahawks after a fourth quarter comeback attempt fell short. I truly believed Washington would be able to win the game at the end. Haskins was moving the ball well enough that a touchdown seemed imminent. Then came the sacks.
It may have been disappointing, but I actually feel better about this game than I did after last week. The win over the Niners felt weak offensively, and while the defense was outstanding, a team shouldn t have to rely on its defense to score points. Against Seattle, the offense really started clicking, especially in the second half.
Washington is signing veteran linebacker Mychal Kendricks off the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad to boost a defense that has struggled in the first half much of the season.
Agent Douglas J. Hendrickson confirmed the move to The Associated Press on Monday, less than 24 hours after Washington lost 20-15 to Seattle to snap its winning streak at four. Kendricks, 30, hasn’t played this season but has 103 games of NFL experience and won the Super Bowl with Philadelphia three years ago.
Washington was missing starting linebackers Cole Holcomb and Kevin Pierre-Louis and lost reserve Shaun Dion Hamilton to injury against Seattle, and their status for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers aren’t clear. Washington can clinch the NFC East title with a victory and a New York Giants loss to Baltimore.

The Seahawks scored 10 points less than their season total (30.5), but their 20-3 lead was too much for Washington to overcome. With quarterback Dwayne Haskins filling for an injured Alex Smith, the defense could hardly afford any lapses. But that’s what happened, especially when Seahawks running back Carlos Hyde broke free for a 50-yard touchdown just after halftime.
“I feel like we hurt ourselves more than anything,” Washington defensive tackle Daron Payne said. “Coming out slow with a couple big plays.”
Added coach Ron Rivera: “When you go and look at it we’ll see it on tape (Monday) there were some missed chances. We had some plays that we could’ve made that could have impacted the game.”

The Seahawks will be getting back a big part of their defensive line for Sunday s game at Washington Football Team, but will be missing a starter on their offensive line.
Defensive end Carlos Dunlap II, who was unable to play last week due to a foot injury, is active, while starting right tackle Brandon Shell is inactive due to an ankle injury.
