Shaunavon’s Kole Lind realized his National Hockey League dream on Thursday when he suited up for the Vancouver Canucks.
Lind made his NHL debut in a 4-1 loss to the host Toronto Maple Leafs. The 22-year-old forward finished with two shots on goal, one hit, and one blocked shot in 17:12 of ice time.
Lind was drafted 33rd overall by the Canucks in the 2017 NHL Draft. He had five goals and three assists in eight games with the Utica Comets in the American Hockey League this season.
The Canucks are now last in the seven-team North Division with a 19-22-3 record after their third straight loss. The Canucks will visit the Maple Leafs on Saturday.

Considering what they’ve been through and how the ghosts of COVID-19 and the National Hockey League’s revised schedule have swamped them, it’s probably asking too much for the Vancouver Canucks to deliver many more positive results this season.
The best their fans can hope for some nights will be a good effort and a good story, and the Canucks at least provided both of those on Thursday when they lost 4-1 to the Toronto Maple Leafs in winger Kole Lind’s NHL debut.
