However, some institutions have a higher rate of post-grad success than others. U.S. News reviewed nearly 24,000 public high schools across the country and ranked the best in each state using a variety of factors, such as college readiness, college curriculum breadth, math and reading proficiency, math and reading performance, underserved student performance, and graduation rate. According to the report, Tennessee has 385 high schools across 129 districts, with 18,756 full-time teachers and 305,297 students enrolled. Here are the Top 25 best high schools in Tennessee:

The grant process began with the state accepting 61 applications for the program in March. TDOE Chief of Programs Jean Luna said there was so much interest in the program she asked to expand it from the more than $14 million originally set aside. “The traditional model doesn’t fit for every student, so the idea of the innovative high school is to meet lots of different needs,” Luna said, adding that the ideas came from feedback from employers, schools and students. “It’s to give some of those kids jumpstarts into postseco

Bradley, Hamilton, Sequatchie Among 21 School Districts Who Win Grants For Innovative High School Models Monday, May 17, 2021 Bradley, Hamilton and Sequatchie are among 21 school districts that have been awarded grants for the Innovative High School Models program, as announced today by the The Tennessee Department of Education. The grants are intended to foster local community partnerships that boost student readiness and prepare high schoolers for jobs and careers in their local communities.    The goal of the Innovative High School Models program is to encourage strong, strategic and innovative partnerships between Tennessee public school districts, postsecondary education institutions and local employers to reimagine how to prepare students for success after high school, officials said.

During her confirmation hearings Tuesday, Davis faced questions about the potential time limit on her tenure. Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland, who appointed Davis, is term-limited and will leave the office at the end of 2023.  The new police chief said she hoped the initial 2½  years of her tenure would be so successful that the next mayor would feel a need to keep her on the job.  Her first day as Memphis chief will be June 14.
