Bengal BJP President Dilip Ghosh first credited the West Bengal government before finding flaws in its claims about the impact of Cyclone Yaas in the state.
Places which bore the brunt of the very severe cyclone include Sandeshkhali, Hindolganj, Hashnabad and Haora in North 24 Parganas as well as Namkhana, Gosaba, Fraserganj, Kulti, Basanti, Canning and Budge Budge in South 24 Parganas, the CM said.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday said that one crore people have been affected in the state due to Cyclone Yaas .
The chief minister added that three lakh houses and 134 embankments were damaged by the impact of the cyclone that whiplashed the country s eastern coasts on Wednesday.
While address reporters at the state headquarters the CM said that West Bengal was the worst affected because the state also witnessed high tide along with the cyclonic storm. At least one crore people were impacted, and three lakh houses and 134 embankments damaged, the CM added.

Synopsis
A three-member state team, including the chief minister and chief secretary Alapan Bandopadhyay, will conduct an aerial survey of Digha, Nandigram, Mandarmoni, Ramnagar, Sunderbans, Sagar Islands, Sandeshkhali, Hingalganj–– the most affected areas in East Midnapore, South and North 24 Parganas districts and then hold administrative meetings for rehabilitation on May 28 and 29.

At least one crore people have been affected in Bengal and more than three lakh houses damaged on Wednesday due to Cyclone Yaas, which has already crossed the state, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said quoting initial estimates. One person, who had gone out fishing, has died in East Midnapore’s Ramnagar.
