Police are appealing for information after a hit and run took place. The failure to stop is believed to have happened on May 24 at just after 7pm when a black car is believed to have hit a cyclist at Warwick on Eden. A spokesman for the police said: We are investigating a fail to stop road traffic collision that happened on the road leading from Warwick on Eden towards Head Nook, on May 24 at about 7.05pm. It was reported that the driver of a black Ford Fiesta or Focus failed to stop having been in collision with a cyclist. The vehicle continued towards Corby Hill.
A PROUD father and intelligent man who decided to walk home along an unlit north Cumbrian road died after being hit by a car, an inquest heard. The two-hour hearing in Cockermouth heard a detailed account of the late-night tragedy last year which claimed the life of 47-year-old Micah John Carruthers, from Brampton. A passionate reader, with an abiding love of history and sport, Mr Carruthers had been battling with physical and mental health issues and trying to overcome a history of substance misuse, the hearing was told. He died just before 11pm on January 7 after being hit by a car as he walked towards Brampton along a stretch of the A69 a little way north of Corby Hill. He was confirmed dead at the scene - despite the efforts of two police officers to revive him.
