Dwayne Palomaki has received a one-year conditional sentence that will see him serve nine months of house arrest followed by three months on a curfew and a year of probation for his assault on the referee in chief of a lacrosse tournament in Orillia, Ontario in 2019.
After being ejected from a game for which he was serving as a trainer for the Innisfil midget team, Palomaki attacked RIC Gord Brown in an arena hallway, causing serious injuries that will require Brown to have surgery on his left eye in the future.
Palomaki eventually accepted responsibility for the assault, although in previous court appearances he had blamed the victim, claiming that Brown had started the altercation, according to OrilliaMatters.com. The judge dismissed that assertion as being clearly untrue.
