A WILTSHIRE artist has had his work showcased on a global platform. Del Llewellyn, of Llewellyn Illustrations, was commissioned to produce his first portrait when he quit his job as a postman in 2018. He has now created stunning hand-drawn portraits of footballers, such as legend Lionel Messi and the late Diego Maradona, that are on sale for thousands of pounds. His portraits – alongside signed limited edition reproductions and prints – has become available following a socially-distanced signing session at Messi’s home last month. Mr Llewellyn said: “I started creating portraits of footballing stars to combine my passion for art and football. I’ve always loved drawing and never thought it would be something I’d be able to turn into a career..”
Malmesbury High Street With days to go until Britain leaves the European Union, businesses have given a relieved but apprehensive welcome to the Brexit trade deal. The transition period ends at 11pm on Dec. 31 - with a new era soon to be ushered in. Gordon MacPherson, managing director of The Retailer Group, has shared his thoughts on the newly-agreed deal. Based in Malmesbury, he has spent much of the year working with high street retailers on how they can best respond to the challenge of coronanvirus. AN online festive advert featuring a TV star has been released to help support traders in the town. Starring Casualty actor Jason Durr, the ad showcases the whole town encouraging residents to shop local this Christmas. The video is available to watch on Malmesbury Town Council’s Facebook page. During the ad Jason Durr, who also appeared in Heartbeat, says: “This festive season, more than ever before, our local traders here in Malmesbury need your support. “With so many fantastic indepedent stores in our town, it’s easy to find presents for everyone. “It’s no trouble to shop locally and help our amazing community to have a very merry Christmas.”
