ADRIAN Citing “ethical concerns,” Adrian City Attorney Tamaris Henagan submitted her resignation Monday following her annual review by the city commission.
The commission has scheduled a special meeting for 7 p.m. Thursday, May 20, to formally accept Henagan’s resignation and appoint the law firm of Garan Lucow Miller of Ann Arbor as the interim city attorney.
Henagan told the commission she was going to resign regardless of the outcome of the evaluation, and cited Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct from the Michigan Supreme Court in the resignation letter she read to the commission.
“Unfortunately, due to ethical concerns that have been raised, I do not believe I will be able to continue forward as the attorney for the city of Adrian,” Henagan read from her letter. “I’ve notified the city administrator and the commission of those concerns to no avail. As such, I’m under a legal obligation to place these concerns in writing

ADRIAN A regional bike trail is starting to come together, one piece at a time.
The new Adrian piece, east of South Main Street, will run alongside the Adrian & Blissfield Rail Road tracks, allowing for bicycle traffic between Division and Main.
The city of Adrian already has the Kiwanis Trail bike path system on the west side of Main Street going through Riverside and Trestle parks and following some now-defunct railroad lines.
What’s new? The city of Tecumseh, the city of Adrian, Raisin Township and Adrian Township have approved formation of the new Kiwanis Regional Trail Authority.

ADRIAN As recreational marijuana dispensaries continue to open in Adrian, city officials are discussing future limits on how many can be in the business districts.
The discussion brought to the Adrian City Commission during its premeeting Monday by commissioner Brad Watson also included adding libraries to the list of places from which dispensaries would have to be a certain distance.
Watson said multiple residents have come to him saying that the city may have reached its capacity without even having reached the limit of 10 licenses it allows in the city s business district.
Watson, who said he is not opposed to the facilities doing business in and succeeding in the city, offered two proposals for amending the city’s ordinances.
