May 11, 2021 Virginia Delores Carl-son, age 89 and 11/12ths, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021, at UPMC Chautauqua. Born in Jamestown, N.Y., she was the last surviving child of eight children born to the late Edwin A. and Johanna K. Pederson Anderson. Virginia grew up with her seven brothers and sisters on Woodlawn Avenue and Camp Street in Jamestown and was a graduate of Jamestown High School. In her early years, she worked at Jamestown Royal, the Printz Company and Art Metal Corporation. On Feb. 14, 1958, she married Charles E. Carlson and together they raised four children in a wonderful neighborhood on Shadyside Avenue in Lakewood, where the couple still resided.

The Peachland Wheel Nuts, part of the Vintage Car Club of Canada, partnered with the Peachland Fire and Rescue Service to refurbish a shiny red 1947 Dodge pickup, a beloved piece of metal and wood showcased at car shows and parades, that has served as a symbol for the fire department. The mock fire truck was originally owned by former fire chief Don Wilson and it was used to haul fruit in his orchard. In the 1980s, he sold it to the fire department for $1 and they wouldn’t let him cash the cheque, he said.

Anderson was riding in a crosswalk on Hwy. 25 and crossing the off ramp from westbound Interstate 94 about 7:45 a.m. when he was struck by the truck that was making a right turn, the State Patrol said. Anderson, 71, of Monticello, was declared dead at the scene.

Central Minnesota Man Killed in Bike vs. Semi Crash Get our free mobile app Monticello, MN (KROC-AM News) - The State Patrol has released the name of the central Minnesota man who was killed yesterday when he was struck by a semi-truck while riding a bike. 71-year-old Gordon Anderson of Monticello was in the crosswalk at the intersection of the exit ramp from westbound I-94 and a divided four-lane highway in Monticello when the deadly incident occurred around 7:45 AM. The State Patrol says the driver of the truck was attempting to turn right from the freeway exit ramp onto Highway 25 when the dump trailer he was pulling struck the victim.
