Brian Hicks was old school, kind, loyal and hardworking; but above all, he was a generous family man.
He was more than a giant of the Goulburn Valley and Southern Riverina trucking industry he was a legend of Australian transport.
The founder of Hicks Transport died on December 26, after a four-year battle with cancer. He was 71.
While the grandfather-of-four is best remembered for his work as a truck operator and safety advocate, Brian was incredibly thoughtful to those around him.
His son Warren said it didn’t matter if it was a driver, staff member or even another truck operator if help and support was needed, Brian was there to lend a hand.

WARWICK residents have been given their first hint at what the new Kmart Hub will look like, with construction of the new store imminent.
The company submitted its initial first fit-out look for the Warwick and Stanthorpe K Hub stores to Southern Downs Regional Council this week.
Conversion works for the existing Target store are due to begin January 18 with an early February opening.
Similarily, conversion works for Stanthorpe will begin February with a late month opening
A Kmart spokeswoman said the company had been busy converting two Kmart stores and seven brand-new concept K hubs nationwide, including on the Southern Downs.

The Cobram District Fruit Growers Association has launched a new marketing campaign, promoting not only consumer awareness of stonefruit this summer but the region in Victoria and its produce.
The Peach on a Beach competition was launched this month as part of a wider campaign, that involves promotional and social media activities. Association spokesperson, Thomas Panna from Mattina Fresh says the competition is not just from a fresh produce consumption perspective, but there are also benefits to local businesses and tourism. Cobram is the peach growing capital of Australia, he said. Although we grow other stonefruit, most of the volume of peaches comes from the Cobram region. With air space becoming limited and a lot of white-flesh peach in the ground, we needed to go back and focus on a campaign to support our region and its growers. Cobram is the premier peach growing
