They say the devil is in the details, but what if those details just so happen to include an actual address? That’s the problem that’s long plagued 666 Fifth Avenue, a Brookfield Properties commercial high-rise located between West 52nd and 53rd streets in Midtown Manhattan. But now it seems that the building has once and for all put those troubles behind it thanks to a conspicuous and fully legal address change that will do away with that infamous 666 qualifier.
More importantly still, 660 Fifth as the building will now be known will open after an extensive redesign sometime in 2022. The project, spearheaded by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, is set to cost $400 million. Considering the glassy 1957 tower’s innately appealing attributes, it will likely be money well spent.
