As restoration continues on the Dawn Theater, the Friends of the Dawn held an open house at the theatre Saturday, kicking off a fundraising campaign.
The campaign started with a live remote at the Dawn by WCSR from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. A drawing was held to give away a basket filled with movie goodies including candy, popcorn, 3-D glasses and more.
Visitors could look into the theater to see the progress of what has been done during the rehabilitation project. Stories are still being gathered for the documentary currently being filmed about the theater’s rehabilitation story. The group has asked story tellers to share a memorable story or significant involvement surrounding the historic theater in Hillsdale.

LISTEN TO THE ART
Hillsdale Daily News
HILLSDALE - An afternoon of art, refreshments and conversation with two local young artists will provide the public with an opportunity to Listen to the Art.
The event, organized by The Heritage Association of Hillsdale County, will be at 3 p.m. Feb. 21 at Rough Draft, 42 Union St., Hillsdale. Admission is free.
Co-organizer Connie Sexton said Listen to the Art is an art exhibit featuring local artists that was started by THA two years ago. We felt there was a void in the arts in Hillsdale, especially amongst local artists displaying their artworks, Sexton said. Our organization wanted to help bring the community and local artists together and what better way by holding an art exhibit for all to enjoy!
