Goals win games, but plenty of points help too.
Galway took the plaudits at Salthill after a second-half performance that put them well out of sight of the chasing Deise men.
Waterford had the lead up until the 34th minute, with the scoreline poised at 2-11 to 2-12 in favour of the home side, but it was Conor Cooney combining with Brian Concannon to hit the back of Shaun O Brien’s net that made the difference. The Tribesmen never relinquished their lead from that point onwards.

Galway s Joe Canning takes a free against Tipperary
There is simply no end to the talents of Joe Canning and the Galway star demonstrated that again in today’s Allianz Hurling League defeat to Tipperary.
Towards the end of the first-half in Thurles, the Portumna man showcased his accuracy with this remarkable sideline (video below) which finished with a point from team mate Conor Cooney.
In the end, the Tribesmen would slump to their first loss of the season on a 2-19 to 0-20 scoreline but take nothing away from this sensational pass from their talisman.
