The Government have now formally responded to the representations made by the Angling Trust, he explained. We have promoted the huge benefits of fishing on individual health and wellbeing and have been able to present a case to which the Government have listened.
Recreational fishing will be allowed in England during the latest lockdown after the Government accepted it was a form of exercise, the Angling Trust has said.
Its leaders say they have successfully argued the benefits of fishing on an individual’s health and well-being, with the Government accepting it should be allowed.
Jamie Cook, CEO of the Angling Trust, said in a statement: “We have worked extremely hard to reach this position and we as anglers have a duty to abide by the strict conditions under which fishing is once again permitted.

AN angling superstore in Middlewich can once again serve customers after the lockdown ban on fishing was lifted today. Dave s is resuming its click and door collection service in its store in Lewin Street from 9am to 1pm tomorrow. Customers can message staff and pick up items during these times every day. It follows the Government s u-turn which had suspended fishing during the third national lockdown. Campaigners lobbied MPs to change their mind and include angling as a form of exercise. The Government is now allowing anglers to form once a day but can only fish within their own local area.
