The two lighthouses are being offered for free to qualifying public entities, the General Services Administration announced Thursday. Under the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act, those who can apply to own the lighthouses at no cost include government agencies, nonprofits, educational agencies or community development organizations, or groups dedicated to parks and recreation, cultural or historic preservation.

Police have identified a 26-year-old man shot by a Butler County Sheriff s deputy in Ross Township Monday. Alex Hoskins was brandishing a firearm, according to the Butler County Sheriff s Office release. He was treated and released from Fort Hamilton Hospital. The sheriff s office has Hoskins in custody. Officials said they were executing a search warrant when the man was shot. Police said in the release that Hoskins believed he was under investigation, and that he bought a firearm in preparation for a confrontation with police.
