The candidates are: Peter Freeman (Ind), Yvonne Howard (Ind) and Sidney Imafidon (Cons). Newcomer Sidney recently bought Grade-II listed Ely House in Lynn Road and he also owns the Duke’s Head. “It saddens me when I hear people speak negatively of this town. I chose [to focus on] the positives because that’s how I live my life and because I have faith in this town,” he says.

Castle hotel in Northumberland ready to welcome back customers

A popular hotel in the region has offered reassurances to potential customers considering a staycation ahead of the location reopening next month. Langley Castle has said they’re offering ‘castle keep-safe’ stays to people who are thinking about visiting the region this summer as restrictions continue to ease. May 17 sees hotels allowed to reopen and Langley Castle has said it hopes it can repeat its success of last summer, where it obtained a 97% occupancy rate throughout the season and became the ‘poster boy’ as part of the governments staycation campaign last year. When it reopens, the hotel will make the most of its location and provide outdoor domes where families can relax privately and safely.
