There are literally hundreds of definitions and an even greater number of food security indicators. As defined by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service, food security is “access by all people at all times to enough food for an active, healthy life.” More precise definitions include references to food preferences, dietary needs, safety, etc.

A 35-year-old Hogansburg man has been accused of leading police on a car chase and of having drugs in the car, according to New York State Police. Abraham T. Gray was found with various pills, cocaine and “drug paraphernalia,” state police said. He was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a narcotic drug, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal mischief and unlawfully fleeing a police officer.

Akwesasne Holiday Helpers receive assistance from local businesses

Friday, December 18, 2020 - 8:37 am AKWESASNE The Akwesasne Holiday Helpers received support from several businesses to help Akwesasne families who are struggling for the holidays. Through the generosity of CAA Management, Akwesasne Convenience Store Association, CKON 97.3fm, and Tarbell Management Group; turkeys and gifts cards were provided to help families in need during the holiday season, along with a Christmas stocking for kids. “Christmas is the time of giving and, this year, helping those who are less fortunate is needed now more than ever. It takes collaboration and the kindness of others to help families throughout Akwesasne who are experiencing a hardship. For that, we extend our sincere appreciation to CAA, ACSA, CKON, and TMG for giving back and providing a helping hand to our community’s families,” Akwesasne Holiday Helpers said in a press release.
