World Sailing President Quanhai Li has said the governing body is fully committed to adapting and working with organisers of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics to ensure a safe and successful event this year.

The President’s comments come in a statement by World Sailing which insists its preparations for the Olympics were firmly on track following discussions with the IOC, the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee and International Federations.
IOC RECEIVES WADA S CRC CONFIRMATION THAT IMPLEMENTATION GUIDELINES FOR CAS DECISION REGARDING RUSADA WILL NOT LEAD TO NON-COMPLIANCE PROCEDURES IF FULLY APPLIED 02/19/21
The decision taken by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on 17 December 2020 regarding the case of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) needs to be strictly and consistently implemented across the Olympic Movement. Any deviation from the award could lead to new court cases or non-compliance procedures by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
This is why implementation guidelines were submitted to WADA by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), in coordination with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the International Federations (IFs). But, following its suspension by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) because of claims of mismanagement and corruption in June 2019, there are doubts over whether it has the authority to be in charge of the event at Birmingham 2022.
The Irish Government provides funding to Irish Sailing. These funds are exclusively for the benefit of the Performance Pathway. However, this falls short of the amount required to fund the Performance Pathway in order to allow Ireland compete at the highest level. As a result the Performance Pathway programme currently receives around €850,000 per annum from Sport Ireland and €150,000 from sponsorship. A further €2 million per annum is needed to have a major impact at the highest level. The Irish Sailing Foundation was established to bridge the financial gap through securing philanthropic donations, corporate giving and sponsorship.
The vision of the Irish Sailing Foundation is to generate the required financial resources for Ireland to scale-up and execute its world-class sailing programme. Irish Sailing works tirelessly to promote sailing in Ireland and abroad and has been successful in securing funding of 1 million euro from Sport Ireland. However, to compete on a par with
