Arrest made in Lone Pine homicide Prineville man shot and Redmond man arrested in connection with Lone Pine incident A Redmond man was arrested Monday in connection with the death of a Prineville man in Lone Pine. On the morning of Sunday, April 18, a Jefferson County Sheriff s Deputy responded to a report of a deceased person on Lone Pine Road in Jefferson County, Jefferson County District Attorney Steve Leriche reported. At this location, the deputy observed a deceased person identified as Edgar Morales, age 30, who was located next to his white Ford truck. Morales, from Prineville, appears to have died from a gunshot wound.

Sheriff s Office investigating suspicious cattle deaths First cases of mutilated cattle began in early March on very rural Paulina land Beginning the first week of March, the Crook County Sheriff s Office investigated multiple suspicious cattle deaths in eastern and southern portions of Crook County. The first cases began at the 96 Ranch on Southeast Van Lake Road between February and March. This area and the areas where cattle have been found is very rural ranch land, as well as public BLM land. Undersheriff James Savage reported that the cause of these cattle deaths was not natural and are under investigation. The sheriff s office would like to encourage Stockgrowers to be vigilant in checking on their animals and to report any suspicious activity to them. The sheriff s office will be providing extra patrols to the rural portions of the county in an attempt to locate who is responsible.

Apr 20, 2021 Investigators in rural Central Oregon are perplexed by a series of mutilations involving ranchland cattle. Back in March, the Crook County Sheriff s Office reported at least six cow carcasses found within a week where someone removed udders and reproductive systems of the animals cleanly and precisely, without disturbing any other organs. Investigators say all the cases have happened outside of Prineville. The Sheriff s Office recently filed a search warrant to scan for cell phone activity in the areas where the cows were found in hopes that produces a new lead.
