Kearney hands Seniors first loss

The North Platte FNBO Seniors couldn’t solve Kearney pitcher Lucas Wegner on Tuesday and they lost, 4-2, at Bill Wood Field.
“Give credit to the starting pitcher, he’s one of only a few we’ve seen this season that can throw that curveball for a strike,” Seniors coach Ricky Holm said. “It messed with our approaches a little bit. Our lack of approaches is something we need to work on. We had good pitching and defense but we need to work on that, overall.”
In the second inning, North Platte (6-1) went up when Will Coe hit a ground ball that went just under the glove of shortstop Karter Lee.
Seniors sweep Norfolk

The North Platte FNBO Seniors won both games of a doubleheader at Norfolk on Sunday, 13-3 and 15-11.
North Platte (6-0) opened the day by scoring five runs in the top of the first inning. Norfolk answered back with two runs in the bottom half of the inning. But the Nationals busted it open with another four in the second and they never looked back.
Derrick Kuhlmann had three hits and batted in three runs. Cody Wright and Carter Kelley each hit home runs. They both had two hits and three RBIs.
Both teams battled in the second game. Norfolk took a 4-1 lead in the top of the second inning. North Platte scored a run in the second, then two more in the third to tie it up. Then the Nationals scored five in the fourth.
Seniors win two in Columbus

The North Platte FNBO Seniors swept a doubleheader against Columbus, 3-0 and 11-7, on Saturday at Pawnee Park.
In the first game, the Nationals (4-0) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. They stood pat after that, relying on their pitching and defense to get the win.
Will Coe threw five innings. Derrick Kuhlmann and Tristen Beyer did the rest to preserve the victory.
Jaylan Ruffin batted in two runs for North Platte while Jeremiah Seamann had the other.
North Platte also scored three runs in the first inning of the second game. They added two in the third and one in the fourth to take control.
