The moment has finally come: Super Bowl LV is here. It’ll be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers playing a rare home game as they take on the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs with the winner hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. For the Buccaneers, they find themselves back at Raymond James Stadium after winning three road playoff games in a row, including a victory in the NFC title game against MVP winner Aaron Rodgers and his Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Unless Watson ends up in Minnesota, it s safe to say he won t be wearing purple next season. However, the possibility that Watson could end up in the AFC North isn t quite as far-fetched.
Obviously, the Cincinnati Bengals are set with last year s No. 1 overall pick, Joe Burrow. It s hard to imagine the Cleveland Browns parting with Baker Mayfield after he led them to their first playoff win since 1994 (even though one Browns writer said the team should consider the possibility).
While longtime Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has done his part to deny the reports of a possible move after recently saying his future with the team was uncertain, that hasn t stopped the speculation from flowing. In a recent report,
CBS Sports listed several possible destinations for the 37-year-old signal-caller, with the San Francisco 49ers leading the list.
As explained by the outlet s Cody Benjamin, the Niners are seemingly facing some uncertainty behind center despite how their current starter, Jimmy Garoppolo, led the club to a Super Bowl appearance last year. However, that reportedly didn t prevent management from trying to pursue Tom Brady in free agency last offseason or from [doubling] down on their plans to upgrade San Francisco s quarterback rotation.
There are reports of animosity between Rodgers and the team s front office, with
CBS Sports noting there is growing sentiment among league insiders that the All-Pro quarterback may find himself in a new home next season. Many sources around the league believe Rodgers has reached the end of his rope, upset that the team has showed a lack of commitment by using a first-round pick to take Jordan Love in last year s NFL Draft. It s been the worst kept secret in football. I don t think they ve ever really won him over, one unnamed assistant coach told the outlet. Last year they held him back, and then they picked his replacement in the draft. This guy is nothing if not calculated. He s sending a signal to the rest of the league – Come and get me.
