Daily Post Nigeria Published The Nigeria Police Force, Kogi State command, has banned the use of fireworks during this festive period. The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Edeh Ekpeji disclosed this while briefing the senior officers of the Command at the Police State Headquarters, Lokoja on Monday. A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) DSP William Ovye Aya on Tuesday morning, said the police boss advised parents and guardians to warn their children and wards to stay away from knockouts as policemen across the State were directed to arrest anyone who violated the order. He directed the Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, as well as Operational Commanders to review their crime fighting strategies and increase visibility of policemen to ensure peaceful Yuletide in Kogi State.

2023: Gov Yahaya Bello speaks on calls to run for President

Daily Post Nigeria Published Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello on Monday said he does not want to be distracted by calls for him to run in the 2023 presidential election. Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Nnogwu Sani Mohammed at the ongoing security and economic summit of the Northcentral Governors Forum in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, the Governor said he “is focused on delivering the mandate of rebuilding Kogi State.” According to Bello, ”his administration’s ability to curb insecurity in Kogi State and massive youth empowerment has been attracting support leading to the calls” for him to contest for presidency come 2023 but maintained that he does “not want to be distracted with” such calls.

Gunmen Kill 3 Policemen, 5 Others in Emir of Kaura Namoda s Convoy

•Traditional ruler of Ankpa abducted John Shiklam in Kaduna, Francis Sardauna in Katsina and Ibrahim Oyewale in Lokoja Gunmen on Thursday night attacked the convoy of the Emir of Kaura Namoda in Zamfara State, Alhaji Sanusi Muhammad, killing eight people. In Kaduna State, seven people were killed by gunmen in Gora Gan community, Zangon-Kataf Local Government area of the state, while security operatives in Kogi State have declared a manhunt for the kidnappers of the traditional ruler of Ankpa, the Ejeh of Ankpa, Shuaibu Usman, who was abducted yesterday. The gunmen attacked the Emir of Kaura Namoda on his way home from Abuja, killing three of his police security details and five other people.
