Posted on March 5th, 2021 Courtesy Ceylon Today Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said a proposal has been issued to construct three railway lines covering the suburbs of Colombo to reduce traffic congestion. The proposed railway lines will be constructed as follows; Ragama to Kirulapone via Colombo Fort; Moratuwa to Kelaniya via Piliyandala and Narahenpita; Kottawa to Hunupitiya via Pannipitiya and Thalawathugoda. Prime Minister Rajapaksa additionally mentioned that in implementing this project, priority should be given to fulfilling the needs of the people. This railway project is to be implemented in several stages in the future.
