Being Everton, A Personal Perspective & This Season Danny O’Neill 25/05/2021

ToffeeWeb has been a great outlet on which to exchange views. It always has been but this year more than ever for me.
Sometimes in agreement; sometimes not so much, but always as Evertonians. Respect to all sides of the many debates – however heated they got… and will continue to do so. Long may that continue. We all share the same passion.

Jump to lastAs the 2020-21 season comes to a close, what is the state of the good ship Everton? After 18 months of Carlo Ancelotti’s management, have we actually progressed – as our Chief Executive says we have in her latest e-mail to supporters?
The Blues have finished the season in 10th position in the Premier League and with a negative goal difference. They have also missed out on the aim of European football. This, for many supporters, our Chief Executive, Chairman, Owner, and the Carlo love-in media, is seen as progress.
The most points achieved since Koeman’s first season, it is said. The 10h-place finish is a mighty two positions higher than last season. Lest we forget, under the god awful Sam Allardyce we actually finished 8th, while Koeman in his first season got 61 points, 7th place, and European football. (Let’s forget what actually happened when we got there.).

Manchester City vs Everton
Match Preview
Everton go into the final match of the 2020-21 season with European football still within their grasp but in the knowledge they will probably need to pull off a surprise victory at Manchester City in order to seize it.
A place in the inaugural Europa Conference League is still possible for the Blues despite their horrendous home form that has seen them tumble from 2nd place on Boxing Day to 8th going into the last day of the season and there is a danger they could finish 10th if results elsewhere go against them.
