Years of frustration over rigid regulations, seen as outdated and not in line with the times, have led to the formation of a new major junior lacrosse league in Six Nations in Ontario that's expected to get the ball rolling in mid-August.
HOME Bargains is trying to move into an empty unit at The Peel Centre but the retailer is facing stern opposition from the builders of The Lexicon. A planning application has been lodged for Home Bargains to move into the vacant store Next used to occupy at The Peel Centre. The applicants want to convert part of Unit 4a into space exclusively for the sale of food. Documents attached to the application indicate Home Bargains want to use 30 per cent of the floor space at the 1,862 square metre site for this purpose. But the proposal has irked the Bracknell Regeneration Partnership the group that delivered The Lexicon and the refurbishment of Princess Square.

The Tewaaraton Lacrosse League has announced that it plans to begin play with an eight-day tournament this August. The TLL, which has said it will be a junior league but which will allow 22-year-old players rather than the usual 17-21 age range, has announced four teams. They plan to play a round robin tournament culminating in its first championship.
The TLL also announced its executive, which will be headed by veteran lacrosse leader Lewis Staats as president and which includes vice presidents Vince Hunt and Jeff Snyder. The press releases for both announcements appear below.
