CBS Denver 5/11/2021 Syndicated Local – CBS Denver
DENVER (CBS4) – After rain and snow across much of Colorado Monday night into early Tuesday morning, another surge of moisture is on the way for Tuesday afternoon. It will be all rain at lower elevations while the high country gets another blast of spring snow.
The foothills and mountains west of Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins remain under a Winter Storm Warning through 6 p.m. Although it is no longer winter, the title is still used whenever winter conditions are expected. Most areas above 7,500 feet as far west as Vail Pass will get 4-8 inches of additional snow. The higher amounts will be generally above 10,000 feet or above most mountain towns.
A winter storm watch is forecast for Colorado Springs and winter storm warnings are in effect for northern Colorado Monday evening, the National Weather Service announced.
As much as 4 to 8 inches of snow could be possible for areas above 7,500 feet on the north side of Pikes Peak in Teller County, the agency said.
Thick, misty fog settled over Colorado Springs Monday morning with rain showers expected throughout the afternoon, the weather service said.
Snowy conditions reached the mountain areas Monday morning and travel on Interstate 70 was slowed due to crashes.
At about 9:30 a.m., westbound lanes of Interstate 70 closed at exit 216 (Loveland Pass) due to a crash. It later reopened.

COLORADO There s some good news and bad news about the full pink supermoon that will rise over Colorado late Monday evening.
The bad news first, because there s just a sliver of it: The moon won t be pink (more about that later). Come to think of it, that may make the news of the full pink supermoon nothing but good weather dependent, of course.
The National Weather Service is forecasting a partly cloudy sky for Monday evening in Denver s metro area when the moon rises. Moonrise is around 7 p.m., and the moon reaches perigee (more about that later, too) at around 9:30 p.m.
