Local black-owned businesses awarded 2K grants to rebound from COVID-19 pandemic The Colorado Restaurant Association is helping Black-owned businesses across the state rebound from the pandemic. and last updated 2021-04-20 11:25:08-04 COLORADO SPRINGS — To help Black-owned businesses rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Colorado Restaurant Association, Colorado Restaurant Foundation, and Planterra Foods have awarded $2,000 grants to nine across the state. Planterra Foods contributed to the CRF’s Angel Relief Fund to divide funds among Black-owned restaurants to incentivize repeat dining through gift cards. Restaurants will use the funds to pay for gift cards to give to customers to entice them to return and dine again. Customers who visit these restaurants and spend at least $25 will receive a $25 “thank you” gift card to use at a later date.

Several other Colorado cities have adopted similar programs, including Aurora, Carbondale, Central City, Fort Collins, Glendale, Greeley, Leadville, Salida and Telluride, thanks to a 2011 law passed by the state legislature.
