Omnispace Continues to Advance the Development of its Global 5G Hybrid Mobile Network
Omnispace, the company that is reinventing mobile communications by building a global hybrid network, announced that it closed on a round of $60 million in equity financing that advances its development of its 5G non-terrestrial network (NTN) and expands its 2 GHz spectrum footprint in key markets globally. The Omnispace network will power critical global communications, including 5G and mobile Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity, directly from its satellites in space to mobile devices around the world.
Led by new investor Fortress Investment Group, the latest round includes funding from existing investors Columbia Capital, Greenspring Associates, TDF Ventures and Telcom Ventures.

BENGALURU: The government has directed Antrix Corporation, the commercial arm of India s space agency, to file a petition to wind up Devas Multimedia, a Bengaluru-based firm that has filed lawsuits seeking hundreds of millions of dollars in compensation from it over a cancelled satellite deal.
The clock phase of the FCC s C-band auction for coveted mid-band spectrum for 5G wrapped up Friday with gross proceeds of $80.91 billion, handily beating the $44.89 billion driven by the 2004 auction for AWS-3 spectrum.
The C-band auction, known as Auction 107, centers on licenses for 280MHz of spectrum in the 3.7GHz-3.98GHz band. The FCC billed it as the highest-grossing spectrum auction ever held in the US. Bidders have won all of the 5,684 spectrum blocks that were up for bid. And gross proceeds have exceeded $80.9 billion, shattering the prior FCC auction record of $44.9 billion, FCC Chairman Ajit Pai said in a statement.
