Firefighters were quick to respond and were able to bring the blaze under control within 15 minutes. CFD says one person was treated for smoke inhalation and transported to Columbus Regional Health. Damages were significant and were estimated at about $80,000. CFD extinguishes first residential fire of 2021

Courtesy-CFD COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Fire Department (CFD) was called to 511 North Cherry St. late Tuesday night to fight a residential fire. Crews arrived at around 10:30 p.m. and saw flames coming from the rear of the home. Firefighters believe the fire may have originated near the garage at the back of the house before spreading. CFD experienced high heat and heavy smoke when entering the front of the home, so two more engines were dispatched. The blaze was under control in 30 minutes. It was the first residential fire of 2021 for the department. The cause is still under investigation. Damage to the property is estimated at $48,000. There were no injuries reported.
