COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - The Georgia Department of Health is putting the Chattahoochee Valley on notice. Thereâs tainted drugs on the street in our area, and theyâre killing people.
Health department officials tell News Leader 9 that counterfeit Percocet and Xanax pills are circulating the streets of counties in our area. A press release from the Columbus Health Department reads as follows:

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Local citizens can now get the COVID-19 vaccination at the Columbus Metra Transit System on Linwood Boulevard.
The Columbus Health Department and Metra Transportation are teaming up for the clinic.
Doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine will be given out. An appointment is also not mandatory.
Spokesperson for the Columbus Health Department, Pamela Kirkland, tells News Leader 9 that this is another effort to bring the needle to people.
The Columbus Symphony’s Picnic With the Pops concerts, one of central Ohio’s most popular annual outdoor entertainment events, is set to return this summer.
After the pandemic led to the cancelation of last year’s edition, the symphony announced Friday that it will bring back the weekend concert series this summer at the John F. Wolfe Columbus Commons.
The concerts, which will take place on Saturdays from June 12 through July 31, will feature the symphony accompanying leading pop acts and artists. (At least one concert will also feature a performance on a Friday.)
The lineup of guest artists, as well as details on tickets and safety protocols, will be announced soon.

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - This week kicked off National Nurses Week. People everywhere, including right here in the Chattahoochee Valley, are expressing gratitude to the group of essential workers.
Jackie Seldon says she became a nurse to help people. The nurse of 43 years tells News Leader 9, things haven’t exactly been a walk in the park for the frontline workers this past year, with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Our senior citizens are the most vulnerable and with the COVID-19 vaccines rollout across the Peach State, some seniors havenât always had an easy time gaining access to it especially those who are homebound.
But now a partnership between the River Valley Area Agency on Aging and the Columbus Health Department is allowing shut-in seniors an opportunity to get the COVID-19 vaccine if they canât leave their home.
