Amid reports of UAE brokering talks between India and Pakistan, Congress cautioned the Modi government against accepting foreign mediation. Senior leader Mallikarjun Kharge said, “It has been one of the successes of Indian diplomacy since the 1972 Simla agreement to ensure that we deal with Pakistan bilaterally, and to prevent foreign mediation. We hope that our government sees reason and returns to India’s tried and tested policies.” On China, Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “Chinese occupation of Gogra-Hot Springs & Depsang plains is a direct threat to India’s strategic interests including the DBO airstrip. National security massively jeopardised by GOI’s wasteful talks.”

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday hit out at the government over the issue of insurance cover for health workers in the country. The Union health ministry has announced that all claims of Covid warriors under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package, which was launched in March last year in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, will be settled till April 24, after which a fresh insurance policy for them will become effective. Government of India (GOI), you are utterly ungrateful, Gandhi said in a tweet, citing a media report claiming that India s health workers are left without government insurance cover as the second wave of Covid-19 hits the country.
