Now heâs back for another season after deciding not to enter the NFL draft.
âIâm thankful for Terrel coming back. It was a choice that he made, and weâre all better for it. Iâm a better coach because of it,â said Dave Aranda, going into his second season as Baylorâs coach, during Thursdayâs Big 12 Media Days.
Aranda expects Bernard to be improved this season, with a better understanding of the defense that Aranda initially installed primarily through Zoom and remote learning because of the pandemic that wiped out spring practice just weeks after his hiring.

ARLINGTON â Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby said Wednesday the league is doing everything it can to encourage vaccinations for all of its athletes, though the conference wonât mandate shots for the coronavirus.
Those not getting vaccinated, however, will be required to submit to multiple COVID-19 tests weekly, as was the case for all athletes throughout the pandemic-affected 2020-21 school year.
âI think itâs very short-sighted to not get vaccinations. Even if the Delta variant werenât around, it makes sense to get vaccinated,â Bowlsby said during his introductory remarks at football media days.
âIf indeed the Delta variant is as virulent and as infectious as itâs been reported to be, not getting vaccinated, youâre rolling the dice in terms of whether youâll contract the virus,â he said. âAnd beyond that, for a student-athlete, youâre also rolling the dice on whether or not youâre going to be able to participate

ARLINGTON â The Big 12 Conference would certainly benefit from an expanded College Football Playoff and likely never be left out again.
Under the proposed 12-team format that still would be at least a couple of seasons away, six-time defending Big 12 champion Oklahoma would have been in the playoff again last season. Iowa State, which had a league-best 8-1 record in the regular season before losing its first championship game in any conference, would have become the first Big 12 team other than the Sooners to make it.
Neither the Sooners nor Cyclones â picked to finish 1-2 in conference again this season â made it under the current four-team playoff that began seven seasons ago, when Big 12 co-champions TCU and Baylor were left out after the final CFP rankings.
