The sixth edition of The Donegal Atlantic Way Ultra Race is back on Friday 2nd July. The event is a challenging route of 555km along the rugged and beautiful Donegal Wild Atlantic Way coastline with competitors departing Letterkenny and taking on some of the most scenic roadways to be found anywhere in the World. The route takes you past Malin head, Mamore Gap, Knockalla, Atlantic Drive, Horn Head, Carrickfin, Glengesh Pass, Sliabh League and Barnesmore Gap all within 60 hours. Race Organiser Sean McFadden says plans are coming together nicely ahead of start and that the solo ladies could be the stand out category this year.

After realising the potential for agri tourism in Donegal the couple began to build up their herd and now have 21 of the furry creatures with females due to give birth in July. “We have both Huacaya and Suri alpacas. The Huacaya breed has a dense crimped fleece, which results in them looking like teddy bears. The fleece of the rare Suri breed grows longer and silkier, giving it a lustre appearance. Suri alpacas are rare and make up only ten per cent of the world’s alpaca population,” said Rita.

  Renowned travel publisher Lonely Planet has named Ireland’s top ten best beaches, with two of them in Donegal. Eight of those selected are along the west coast with two each in Donegal, Mayo and Kerry. The write described Ireland’s coastline as a ‘beachgoers paradise’. Trá Mór in Dunfanaghy has been ranked second to Dogs bay in Galway. The writer described it as ‘a secluded gem in the shadow of the Horn Head peninsula and is arguably the prettiest’. Ballymastocker Bay near Portsalon has also featured in the highly acclaimed list. The beach was once named the second-most beautiful beach in the world by the British Observer Magazine, and the writer says it’s not difficult to see why:
