Mr. Aaron Ross Powell, age 37, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020. He was residing in Roanoke, Virginia at the time of his death, where he was very active in his community.
Aaron was born in Elba, Ala. to his mother, Melinda Gayle Boyette of Slatyfork, W.V., and his father, Ronnie Powell of Elba.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a celebration of life will be held for Aaron in the months to come. Look out for that spring date. Please hold any memorials for future donation pathways in Aaronâs honor.
On sunny days, Aaron could be found fishing. He was an avid angler and often caught the biggest fish. He could be found hiking, biking, or doing what he could, sweeping the sidewalk or digging a neighborâs car out of a snowbank. Aaron enjoyed most of all feeding people. He was an amazing cook, and his mission was to help hungry people. It didnât just stop at his door though. Aaron was a member of several local non-profits in Roanoke Valley. He could be fou

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) People smiled and thanked volunteers as they received hot dinners at no cost Wednesday, Dec. 23.
Ham, turkey, corn, bread, rolls and dressing filled Styrofoam plates.
“We just want to be a blessing,” St. Elizabeth Baptist Church pastor Donzell Hughes said. “You know, bless people’s bellies.”

Volunteers set up shop at five locations: Retro Downtown Barbecue, Embrace Me Ministries, Mansfield High School, The Eagles Nest and Living Word Church.
BRISTOL, Tenn. â All isnât so calm, all isnât so bright this Christmas Eve.
Thanks to the omnipresence of COVID-19, some local churches plan to skip Christmas Eve services this year.
But not all. Some local churches plan to press on with Christmas Eve programs. Some will open their sanctuary doors for parishioners to attend. Some intend to carry forth online and otherwise.
âA lot of people donât want to come out, so it will be online,â said Mark Overton, senior pastor of Central Christian Church in Bristol, Tennessee.
Overtonâs church plans to present its Christmas Eve program online and in person. They asked people to register to attend so officials could safely accommodate all who choose to attend. Registration ended on Sunday.
