Two state grants totaling $630,000 will help extend the Wasson Way trail and build another trail through a Madisonville park.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has awarded a $500,000 grant to the city of Cincinnati to help extend Wasson Way from Marburg Road through Ault Park and to Red Bank Road this year, Kelly Carr, assistant to the Cincinnati city manager, said.
“After that work, there are about two miles of trail construction remaining in the west, which will connect Wasson Way between Xavier University and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive,” she said in an email.
“That work will occur over the next few years.”
The Sheridan County Commission has voted to deny a rezone application for a 40-acre property along Brinton Road, but said they would consider an application for rezoning a smaller section of the parcel.
Deborah Boley applied to rezone the 40 acres, which already has an existing home, from (A) Agricultural to (RR) Rural Residential to allow another home to be built on the property.
During the public hearing, neighbors near the property said they were not opposed to owners doing as they wish with their property, but this particular piece of land is an exception because of the riparian areas along Little Goose Creek, which they wanted to remain protected.
