One more COVID-19 related death in Interior Health SHARE ON: (Files by Dione Wearmouth-MyPGNow) BC Health Officials announced 19 more COVID-19 related deaths in the province today, including one person in Interior Health. A long-term care resident in Oliver is the 18th victim of the virus in Interior Health since the pandemic began. The provincial death toll is not up to 796. 518 new cases of COVID-19 were identified in BC today, boosting the provincial total up to 48,027. There are 49 new cases in Interior Health and 31 in Northern Health. There are 679 active cases in the Interior and 482 in the north. There are 32 people in hospital in Interior Health, seven in ICU, and 51 people battling the virus in  hospital in Northern Health; 18 of whom are in ICU.

COVID-19 Outbreak at Coastal GasLink Lodges

CFNR Network Dec 21, 2020 5:06 PM Northern Health has declared an outbreak of COVID-19 at two lodges where people working on the Coastal GasLink pipeline project have been staying. The health authority says 17 confirmed cases remain active at 7 Mile Lodge in the Burns Lake area and Little Rock Lake Lodge in the Nechako area. Health officials have issued an order restricting work at the affected sites to all but essential workers until an updated safety plan is approved. Northern Health says it found evidence of transmission of COVID-19 among employees of the Pacific Atlantic Pipeline Construction company, one of Coastal GasLink’s prime contractors.

Posted: December 21, 2020 B.C.’s COVID-19 response and latest updates for Dec. 21 Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.’s provincial health officer, and Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, today (Dec. 21) issued the following joint statement regarding updates on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) response in British Columbia. Today, we are reporting on three 24-hour periods. From Dec. 18 to 19, we had 652 new cases. From Dec. 19 to 20, we had 486 new cases and in the last 24 hours, we have had a further 529 new cases. This represents a total of 1,667 new cases of COVID-19, including 14 epi-linked cases, for a total of 47,067 cases in British Columbia. There are 9,718 active cases of COVID-19 in the province. There are 341 individuals currently hospitalized with COVID-19, 80 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.
