Teenager charged with series of sex attacks on women on footpaths in Manchester and Cheshire Peter Stubley © Provided by The Independent Police investigating a series of sex attacks on women walking on footpaths in Manchester and Cheshire have charged a 19-year-old man. Joshua Etchells is accused of 12 counts of sexual assault by touching in relation to the incidents between 1 and 7 March. In each case a man on a bicycle approached the victim from behind before touching them inappropriately as he rode past. Mr Etchells, of Lowton Road, Sale, is in custody and will appear before Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Monday 15 March.

Police hunt sex attacker targeting women on footpaths in Cheshire and Manchester Peter Stubley © Provided by The Independent Police are hunting for a serial sex attacker after 10 women were targeted by a cyclist on footpaths in Cheshire and Greater Manchester. Detectives from two police forces are working together on the case because of the similarity of the assaults between 2 and 7 March. In each incident a man on a mountain bike approached the victim from behind before touching them inappropriately as he rode past. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has identified seven incidents which it believes involved the same man. Three took place on the Bridgewater Canal in Sale, at 6pm on 2 March, at 6.20pm on 3 March and 9.20am on 6 March.

REGIONAL A MAN has been arrested in connection with a series of sexual assaults in Trafford. Between last Tuesday and Sunday police received seven separate reports of sexual assaults centred on canal and river towpaths in the borough. In each report, the offender has approached the victim from behind on a mountain bike, before touching them inappropriately while riding past. The incidents reported are: 6.20pm on March 3 on Bridgewater Canal, Sale. 9.20am on March 6 on Bridgewater Canal, Sale. 4.50pm on March 6 on Bridgewater Way, Old Trafford. 6.20pm on March 6 on Little Ees Lane, Sale. 6.45pm on March 6 on River Mersey. Specific location currently unknown.
