SunStar Choco capital bill opposed
OPPOSED. The Philippine Industry Cacao Council (PCIC) is opposing the Senate Bill 1741, which will declare Davao City as the Chocolate Capital of the Philippines if enacted into law. (RJ Lumawag)
+ January 29, 2021 THE proposed Senate Bill (SB) 1741, declaring Davao City as the Chocolate Capital of the Philippines, is unhealthy to the cacao industry in the country, an official of the Philippine Cacao Industry Council (PCIC) said. As much as we really acknowledge the role of Davao City and the region in developing the industry, we believe that it should not be legislated because this will be a disadvantage to all other cacao planters and producers all over the country, PCIC National Chairperson Armi Lopez-Garcia said in an interview with SunStar Davao.

Be it a cup of locally grown and roasted coffee or hot native chocolate, thoughts of christmas will nonetheless bring us to that sense of peace. That is its guiding spirit. The light that it brings inspires us and brings us to a consciousness of community. By now, a lot of communication, learning and trade is done online in the comfort and safety of our homes. Technology has brought many of us closer. Family and relatives we barely see are a click away. Long lost friends, schoolmates now have regular communication.
