Great to see skillful, controlled and powerful hurling rewarded with both the team of the year and the manager of the year.
It s a joy to watch Limerick play; as good as ever I ve seen. And I ve been seeing for nigh on 50 years now.
The style might not suit the disgruntled voices of the likes of The Babs or Justin McCarthy of Cork. I saw them, too. And trust me, what they produced seems like low level junior now compared to the operatic-like wizardly of the likes Cian Lynch or Shane Dowling or the proud broad-shouldered sweep of the Morrisseys, Flanagan, the new Rattler Byrnes and Kyle Hayes.

BEAUMONT â KFDM/Fox 4 News has learned the Mardi Gras of Southeast Texas is canceled due to COVID concerns. The event, including several parades, was scheduled for February 11-14. Beaumont Mayor Becky Ames, City Manager Kyle Hayes, City Attorney Tyrone Cooper and Events Coordinator Emily Wheeler met Tuesday with Laura Childress, the President of Mardi Gras of Southeast Texas, to discuss the event. They deliberated for about 30 minutes before deciding to cancel it.
The organization moved Mardi Gras from Port Arthur to Beaumont last year and said it was an overwhelming success. Childress told KFDM/Fox 4 s Paige Hubbard she understands Southeast Texans will be disappointed about this year s cancellation, but says they can look forward to a great event next year.

Tis the season: to reflect on the year just passed, provide some holiday reading material and, perhaps most importantly, enrage most of the hurling world with some debatable opinions.
Thus, we present to you, our 2020 hurling pecking order.
For simplicity s sake, we have grouped each county within the same tier of championship they took part it in, though the likes of Kildare, Donegal and Louth might justifiably claim they would beat some of the teams placed higher.
1. Limerick
No debate over this one. John Kiely’s Limerick juggernaut won every game they played this year to claim a second All-Ireland title in three years, matching their best ever record. They also secured back-to-back league and Munster titles. Many of their key men, such as Cian Lynch, Kyle Hayes, Tom Morrissey, Sean Finn and Aaron Gillane, are 24 or under, suggesting a green curtain could fall over the next few years.

In goals with plenty of experience, Kerry Co-op’s chair Mundy Hayes takes the number-one jersey. Like Quaid in the Limerick goal, he’s had a good year and survived a big test in the last match that ensures he’ll keep the ball pucked out with pinpoint accuracy.
Full-back line
Not from a hurling stronghold but the Strathroy brothers, Cormac, Ruairi and Patrick, had a good year, claiming more than their fair share of liquid milk contracts. Always in the thick of the action, some call them troublemakers, but they are well able to move up the wing or play away further from goal. We need an old-fashioned, hardworking, jersey-pulling defence to keep a handle on the Limerick full-forward line of Gillane, Flanagan and Mulcahy.
