Miley Cyrus opened the May 8 episode of “Saturday Night Live” with a song dedicated to “all the moms out there.”
Taking place the night before Mother’s Day, this episode has historically been treated as a Mother’s Day episode, with special songs and sketches dedicated to and often featuring cast members’ mothers. This cold open was no different.

The 28-year-old pop star flexed her smoky vocals for the heartfelt ballad, which was paused periodically for the entire SNL cast to bring out their own mothers for some cute wisecracks.
Miley capped off the performance with her mother Tish Cyrus by her side as the rest of the cast and their mom s swayed with her ahead of Elon Musk s monologue as the evening s host.

Musk, keeping in step with the theme of the evening, was joined on stage by his mother, model Maye Musk. The elder Musk reminisced with her son about his creative childhood, but also warned him against a likely Mother’s Day gift this year.
“I’m excited for my Mother’s Day gift. I just hope it’s not Dogecoin,” she cautioned, referring to the contentious cryptocurrency that her son has endorsed.
In what was perhaps the most anticipated appearance of the season, SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk hosted “Saturday Night Live.” Musk began his hosting.
