Most NFL draft picks make sense in one way or another. Some teams target roster needs, while other clubs take the best player available even at stronger positions. Yet a small group of front offices hit on a pick that accomplishes multiple objectives.
In a review of the draft, we can spot a lot of good picks. The best selections not only address a hole in the depth chart but also potentially change a team s future outlook or an entire dynamic on one side of the ball. On Day 2, a few teams found great value in prospects who could ve gone in the first round.

Between free agency and the NFL Draft, the Giants have completely overhauled their roster.
In free agency, they added likely contributors at wide receiver (Kenny Golladay, John Ross), tight end (Kyle Rudolph), running back (Devontae Booker), guard (Zach Fulton), defensive tackle (Danny Shelton), defensive end (Ifeadi Odenigbo), linebacker (Reggie Ragland), edge rusher (Ryan Anderson) and cornerback (Adoree’ Jackson), plus key backups at quarterback (Mike Glennon) and center (Jonotthan Harrison).
In the NFL Draft, they added another wide receiver (Kadarius Toney), two more cornerbacks (Aaron Robinson, Rodarius Williams), two edge rushers (Azeez Ojulari, Elerson Smith) and another running back (Gary Brightwell).

Giants general manager Dave Gettleman trading back from 42 to 50 and still landing Georgia EDGE rusher Azeez Ojulari was an excellent reality to materialize for the New York Giants.
Ojualri was my second graded EDGE behind Miami’s Jaelan Phillips, and he would have been a prime candidate for the Giants at pick 20 after the round one trade down.

The New York Giants loaded up pretty good in free agency, their acquisitions touching virtually every position group on the roster. Regardless of the shift in strategy with few exceptions, the Giants handed out more one-year deals than anything the NFL draft remains the way to build up a franchise, and the Giants will be in search of their latest building blocks starting this Thursday night.
New York has only six draft picks, tied for second-least draft capital with a few other teams. But before anyone gets discouraged, it s not necessarily about quantity as it is about quality, and the Giants have been diligent in stacking their draft board with the top college prospects that match their remaining needs both short- and long-term.
