BEMIDJI The city of Bemidji Parks and Recreation Department will host a summer theater day camp from 1 to 4 p.m. June 7-18, at Bangsberg Hall on the BSU campus.
The city of Bemidji and Bemidji Community Theater are working together to bring campers this summer opportunity. This camp is also known as BCT Junior.

Campers will be placed in camp sections based on their age, interest and performance experience, a release said.
There are four different sections to choose from: Skill Building and Performance, Performance and Audition, Performance and Script Writing and Tech/Behind the Scenes. Each section is limited to 12 participants.

Actress Shruti Haasan has developed an interest in scriptwriting. Shruti, who is also a singer, has been writing songs from the age of 15, and has lately started exploring scriptwriting. Writing has always been a liberating process for me. I have been writing songs, poetry or at times just my feelings down, and I believe it can help you express yourself so much better. I have been writing poetry and stories I would love to develop into full fledged scripts and I m currently working on those, Shruti said.

The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture in partnership with two creative training institutions, Del-York and Ebonyilife Academies, has launched the Lagos State Creative Industry Initiative (LACI) to equip 1480 practitioners with world class skills.
The initiative, as stated, will serve as a training platform for practitioners in the creative industry, and to boost the use of modern technology, enhance content and quality of entertainment.
The free training, which is billed for March, aims to make Lagos State a destination for a skilled, workforce for the creative industries while boosting the state’s economy.
Some of the skills lined up for the programme include Script Writing, Directing, Cinematography, Filmmaking, and Fashion and Style, Digital Filmmaking, Documentary Filmmaking, Digital Marketing, Fashion, Arts & Crafts, Film Post-Production, Producing and the Business of Filmmaking.

Ecuador Mourns Cuban Scriptwriter Gerardo Fernandez
Quito, Dec 23 (Prensa Latina) Intellectuals, writers and filmmakers from Ecuador on Wednesday mourned Cuban writer and screenwriter Gerardo Fernandez, who dedicated his final years to imparting his knowledge in this South American country.
Professor Gerardo, as he was affectionately called, left hundreds of students here who are grateful for all the hours he dedicated to them at institutions such as the University of Arts and the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences, among others.
The Ulises Estrella National Cinematheque, of the Benjamin Carrion House of Culture, was one of his favorite places, because there he developed workshops to teach script writing to adults, and he also dedicated time to children and young people in summer courses.
